Launched by the European Microfinance Network in 2015 as a tool to highlight the impact of the microfinance sector in Europe from a social and economic perspective, the European Microfinance Day Campaign (EMD) is now back with a brand new edition and concept. As 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of EMD, we are delighted to introduce this year's theme, 'Changing the Narrative - Supporting Local Communities to Generate Global Impact'.
Campaign Theme & Background
As we are navigating through times of high uncertainty, due to the ongoing climate crisis and different global conflicts, the number of challenges to be overcome in order to reach the European Green Deal’s goals and to guarantee a just transition have increased, as well as the pressure on small businesses.
The 2024 edition of the European Microfinance Day campaign will give the floor to EMN members and partners will be encouraged to share their experiences as actors of the social economy ecosystem and showcasing how they support local and rural communities in navigating challenges such as empowering women entrepreneurship and reducing environmental impacts through the development of inclusive finance.👉The objective is to look at local communities' experience to draw lessons and examples that could be replicated to other regions and countries.
National Initiatives
Starting from today, EMN members, partners, and other organisations interested in joining the campaign will be able to organise a series of initiatives within the campaign's topics and goals, such as:
- In-person events (1-day conferences, workshops, etc...)
- webinars
- series of videos and podcasts
- online communication & social media campaigns
- press releases
- reports & survey
All the initiatives will be branded under the EMD Campaign, and will be supported and promoted on EMN's online platforms (website, newsletter, and social media). You can access all the campaign material by contacting EMN Secretariat at m.volpi@european-microfinance.org, or on LinkedIn Martina Volpi.
Closing Event
On December 5th, the campaign will be closed by an in-person event organised by EMN in Brussels, at Mundo Madou premises, in Rue des Arts 7-8. The event will represent the occasion to share the results of the campaign, and participants will be invited to showcase their initiatives. During the event, we will also host a panel discussion, titled "(Re) Build greener to be stronger", that will focus on the low-income communities in non-urban or remote areas and particularly on the housing challenges met by these groups. The panel will be followed by a takeaway session and networking time. More details about speakers and content will be shared soon, meanwhile you can register for the event at the links below:
