On April 10th 2024, the European Commission launched the application process to renew its Expert Group on Social Economy and Social Enterprises (known as “GECES”).
The Group will advice the Commission on the implementation of the SEAP and the Transition Pathway for the ‘Proximity and Social Economy’ industrial ecosystem and will be asked:
-
to assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of the measures and texts adopted as part of its social economy strategy ( i.e. the Communication on Building an economy that works for people: an action plan for the social economy, the Transition Pathway for the ‘Proximity and Social Economy’ industrial ecosystem and the Council recommendation on developing social economy framework conditions in Member States);
-
to assist the Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives in the field of social economy and social enterprise;
-
to reflect on how to best incorporate social economy and social enterprise issues in Commission policies and funding;
-
to bring about an exchange of experience and good practice in the field of social economy and social enterprise and contribute to awareness-raising.
The expert group is a great opportunity for the microfinance sector, as part of the social economy ecosystem, to make its voice heard. We therefore encourage you to apply. EMN has been member of this group since 2018 and will submit its own candidate for this term.
The deadline to apply is May 10th, 2024. You can find all the information regarding the application process here.
