This analysis delves into the credit union movement in Romania, which is organized at two levels: vertically by U.N.C.A.R. and horizontally by T.A.C.U. (Territorially Associations of Credit Unions). Given their long-standing presence within Romania, the credit unions (CUs) provide a strong experience in the practice of ethics, solidarity finance and business. CUs in the country are of utmost importance since most of their clients are unbankable. This document also investigates the strong CU movement in Romanian to explain their relevance, how they are organized and their products and services.
