Foundation East is an Industrial and Provident Society that raises capital by selling shares in the Society and also through grants from charitable and other foundations. This capital raised is then deposited with its bankers Unity Trust who in turn lend funds to Foundation East (leverage effect). The Foundation can therefore lend to small businesses in the East of England.
