E=mc2 or or the importance of innovative funding sources for the future of the sector

More than 25 EMN & MFC members from 13 European countries have joined the 4th European Microfinance Day organising about 37 different local actions:

? through a local event, a seminar, a debate, a round table;
? through a social media campaign, sharing the EMD purpose on Facebook, using the hashtag, retweeting a message; 
? through a communication action, publishing a press release, sharing a news, sending a newsletter, advertising a video;
? through a special occasion for clients, a loan discount, an invitation to a local branch, sharing a successful story.

In addition, more that 100 attendees met in the closing event held in Brussels on the 26 October to discuss about the topic of the current European Microfinance Day "E=mc² - an investigation of the exponential impact of microcredit". Effectively, this 4th European Microfinance Day has wished to highlight the importance of the support from innovative funding sources for the further positive development of the sector.

The Brussels-based was honoured by the key-note speech from the Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr Jyrki Katainen, and gather representatives from the European Institutions, the European microfinance sector and investors, among others. It also included the Helenos Fund launching ceremony, which witnessed the official signature of an agreement that marks a significant boost to the achievement of financial & social inclusion in the pan-European scope.
