EMN regularly screens for relevant European calls for proposals. There are currently several actions taking place on the subject of Migrant Entrepreneurs by different Directorates-General (DGs) of the European Commission. In order to provide some clarity to the subject EMN has drafted the “Ongoing Migrant Entrepreneur Projects” summary. EMN is aware of the importance of this policy for the sector and as such, our aim is to offer a panoramic view of the actions being taken to tackle migrant entrepreneurship subject.

Policies regarding promotion of entrepreneurship are incorporated in the Europe 2020 strategy which aims to create the conditions for ‘smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth’. The Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan aims to remove existing obstacles and revolutionise the culture of entrepreneurship in the EU. One particular commitment is to facilitate entrepreneurship among migrants, who are already present and residing in the EU, based on best practices from EU countries.

EMN hopes this summary will help clarify the current lines of action and the strategy taken by the European Commission.
