Advocacy is a key pillar of EMN’s work, aimed at securing a supportive legal and economic framework for microfinance institutions (MFIs) and non-financial service providers at the EU level.

Whether at the OECD’s Youth Entrepreneurship Policy Academy, in the EU’s Financial Services User Group, the EU Commission’s Commission Expert Group on the Social Economy and Social Enterprises (GECES), or with the European Parliament’s Intergroup on the Social Economy, EMN works closely with EU institutions, policymakers, and key stakeholders to influence financial and regulatory policies, ensuring that microfinance remains a viable tool for social and economic development.

By collecting and analyzing key market data, EMN produces valuable reports that inform policymakers and practitioners about emerging trends and best practices.

Additionally, EMN will focus on impact assessment methodologies, equipping MFIs with the tools needed to measure and communicate their contributions to financial and social inclusion.

Strengthening collaboration with universities, researchers, and industry experts, EMN aims to foster innovation and evidence-based decision-making within the sector.

Through various programs and partnerships, EMN leverages external funding to enhance the impact of microfinance and inclusive finance.

The organization actively seeks new collaborations to scale its initiatives and expand its reach, ensuring that financial services remain accessible to entrepreneurs, migrants, and underserved groups.

By participating in EU-funded projects and engaging with key partners such as Social Economy Europe, Impact Europe, FEBEA, and the Women Entrepreneurship Platform, EMN continues to drive the evolution of the microfinance sector.

EMN organises Working Groups to strengthen the involvement of its members in the Network.

The activities carried out by the different Working Groups are very diverse: organisation of workshops, elaboration of research papers, publications, creation of new tools for microfinance management, etc.

EMN organizes a variety of events, including webinars, workshops, and an Annual Conference, which is a key event on the sector’s agenda, bringing together all its stakeholders.

Additionally, one of EMN’s flagship initiatives is the European Microfinance Day Campaign, which was established in 2014.
